- I really enjoy reading great American and British literature. The poetry of Emily Dickinson is some of my favorite, along with the plays of William Shakespeare. I also enjoy American and British history and exploring the relationship of how the history of a certain time period is reflected in the literature from that same period.
Before studying this, I admired the pilgrims, but did not truly consider what all they had to endure. The Pilgrims went through so much to make a new life for themselves and their descendants. The conditions on the Mayflower were tight and full of sickness. In order to come to America they had to learn to cope with these inconveniences. They were truly strong willed and determined people.
ReplyDeleteThe pilgrims who founded our country had ample faith in God and left their lives in his hands. The sacrifice, sometimes of their lives, was what it took to found our country, where we have the freedom of religion. The puritan pilgrims who migrated to the New Found Land made way for the America we enjoy today; for this I am deeply grateful to the pilgrims.
ReplyDeleteThe Pilgrims had to make an extremely hard voyage to reach America. The Pilgrims left their everyday safe lives, and went on a voyage where many of them got sea sick, and were cramped under the deck of the Mayflower. Many of the Pilgrims left family members behind, just so they could have religious freedom. I believe these pilgrims are amazing and strong people.
ReplyDeleteThe lives of the pilgrims is an example of the earliest form of American spirit. The pilgrims, no matter how bad the situation was, were willing to lay down their lives for their freedom. They went through trials and tribulations of such that we will never see again. I am proud of the Puritans for their great voyage to the New World.
ReplyDeleteThe Pilgrims were very brave to sacrifice their lives to get to America. I feel like the Pilgrims didn't really care if they died, they just wanted to reach America. Many of them got sick on the voyage, but that didn't stop them. After learning about the hardships that the Pilgrims faced, I feel privileged to have learned about them.

The Pilgrims exercised great faith in leaving their home land to venture to one that was unfamiliar to them. They left behind everything that was familiar and embraced the unknown. They gave up civilization and everyday comforts in order to believe in their own way. They sacrificed their everyday normal lives to make new lives. The Pilgrims are one of the best examples of strength and determination. All christians should take a lesson from the Pilgrims and have such incredible faith.

The pilgrims made a great sacrifice to come to America. They left their homes, their families, their jobs, and many other things of importance to them. They came to America without knowing anything about the new land, and risked everything, including their lives, to do it. After studying the pilgrims, I feel so much more thankful for what they did, because I would not have the freedom and life I have today if they had not given everything to come to the new land we now call America. - Tori
ReplyDeleteThe Pilgrims' voyage on the Mayflower was definitely not enjoyable. They dealt with illness and lack of respect on the trip. They sacrificed everything they had for the opportunity to come to America, while most died after the arrival. I did not realize how difficult their journey was to the New World or how many did not fully experience it. After having the chance to study the Pilgrims, I admire their courage.
ReplyDeleteThe Pilgrim's journey to America was very difficult. They had left their friends,family, and most of their belongings in England so as to make a new life and have freedom of religion. The Pilgrims must have had a GREAT faith in their God to travel for his righteousness all across the sea to a land they had never seen/been to.
ReplyDeleteAfter studying the Pilgrims this term, I feel that I have a greater respect for their courage and faithfulness.
The sacrifice's they made must have been terribly hard to endure. These amazing people had to leave their safe lives in Europe, for their quest of religious freedom. Many had to leave their close family members and friends. Then during and after their trip to America, huge amounts of these strong willed people died or became horribly sick. I truly respect and am thankful for all the sacrifices they made.
ReplyDeleteThe Pilgrims made a huge sacrifice trying to start a new world. They left there homes, families, and belongings all on faith. These Pilgrims acted on faith that God would bring them through the hardships such as leaks, sickness, and horrible weather. The sacrifices and hardships endured made these men and women tough and even more determined to achieve their goal of a new life in a new world. These men knew the price of victory and paid it in full with their blood, sweat, and tears.

The pilgrims sacrificed everything they had to discover America. They left their loved ones back home to come on this voyage to the New World. The pilgrim's conditions were terrible throughout the trip, such as boat leaks, storms, or diseases. The pilgrims had a extraordinary faith in God ,which God alone answered there prayers by guiding them were they needed to be. The pilgrims are a wonderful topic to talk about this term because they started the wonderful country we know today, America.

The pilgrims made their dangerous voyage in search of freedoms they did not have in England. Many of these pilgrims lost their lives in for something they believed in. These sacrifices make them heroes in a way that few have accomplished. They are responsible for founding our country. Without these brave men and women coming to the New World, the modern United States would not be what it is today.
ReplyDeleteSince learning of the pilgrims journey to America, I have a better respect for the pilgrims because they risked their lives to come to America. They left their families and everything they loved, so they could find freedom. They knew nothing about the land, therefore they didn't know what to expect. They made the best out of what they had, and the result is the beautiful country we live in today.
ReplyDeleteThe Pilgrims gave up their lives in hopes for new ones. It was not promised that the New World would be an easy place to live; in fact, it was a struggle to survive. Some Pilgrims were excommunicated from their families back home in England, and they had no friends to welcome them once they arrived in the New World. The Pilgrims gave up everything they had so that their prosperity would have better lives. I feel that the Pilgrims are heroes. Most of the Pilgrims had only a few possessions, and the most important thing they had was faith. One can only hope to model their spiritual life after the Pilgrims'.

Then the Pilgrims risked their lives as they crossed the ocean into an unknown world. The Pilgrims were brave people who sought a free life for them and their descendants. I respect the Pilgrims more now that I know all they sacrificed to come to the New World. I also feel honored to be in a country founded on the Pilgrims' dreams of freedom of religion.
ReplyDeleteThe pilgrims had to sacrifice more than some have ever had to make the voyage to America. Some pilgrims had to leave their newborns or young children in England so they would not be subject to peril aboard the boats. Pilgrims also had to go against their families and removed themselves from their families for the rest of their life to establish America as a land of freedom and safety. After learning these things about the pilgrims I feel honored to be a part of the country that they founded. They found this land for all of us to have the freedom that they wanted, and they gave everything that they owned to establish it. I now know how great of a people the pilgrims were and I will always respect them for their sacrifice and courage.

The Pilgrims sacrificed all that they had their family, fortunes, and their titles just so they can have freedom of religion. Before studying the pilgrims, I thought that they were just people who went on a trip to go eat a huge meal. It turns out, that the pilgrims set the foundation of the stronghold of the world. Without the pilgrims risking all that they had and even their lives America would just be a deciduous forest on the map of the world.

The Pilgrims lives were filled with hardships that most of us could not imagine. When they reached the New World the number of Pilgrims started decreasing rapidly, and that only left a few able bodies to do all of the work around the settlement. We owe these people the start of our nation, and we normally only think about them at Thanksgiving or when we study about them in school. The studies and stories of Pilgrim life this term has opened my eyes to the sacrifices they had to endure so that we could prosper.

The Pilgrims sacrificed leaving their families to voyage to the New World. Therefore, they lived the way they wanted to, worshiping the same God. The Pilgrams are certainly brave for overcoming their fears and standing up to their society to get want they have always wanted.

The Pilgrims left their families and everything they had to take an unexpected adventure. I feel that the Pilgrims were very brave because of all the hardships they faced. ReplyDeleteThe Pilgrims decided to change their lives all around for the ideal of a better life in an unknown place. They took a long, dangerous voyage in a ship that was not in latest technology trend for that period of time and in which they put their lives in game every second. The Pilgrims were very brave in agreeing to come to America, and believing in the power of God. They were hoping for a great place to start again, practice their religion, and be free from the sins of Europe. They sacrificed their families, their properties and their whole worlds by coming to the New World for the hope of a better life.
ReplyDeleteThe voyage to America was such a great sacrifice that, clearly, the Pilgrims were remarkably faithful to God. The Pilgrims knew that on this voyage there would be only a slim chance they could arrive at the destination alive. They knew they would face storms, sicknesses, and starvation along the way, and yet they were still willing to take those risks because of their loyalty to God. When they arrived at the New World, another ample amount died due to starvation and sickness. I feel very thankful for the Pilgrims because those risks they took founded a new land called America, and I really look up to for their faith in God.

Their faith was outstanding; they did not give up on their dreams even though many of them died. The Pilgrams also had to learn about how to survive in their new land. The Pilgrams should be commended on the great sacrifices they made.
ReplyDeleteThe Pilgrims' journey to the New World, is one that many take for granted. Risking their lives to find freedom, was something that they were willing to do. Leaks in the ship, rationing food each day, and suffering from sicknesses, are only a few hardships that they endured. Now that I have studied the Pilgrims and their voyage to America, I have greater respect for them.
ReplyDeleteAfter learning more about the Pilgrims and their journey to America, I have greater respect for them. Some were forced to leave their families and some lost all of their family and possessions on the voyage over or in the first few years after settling. The Pilgrims had to endure great hardships to establish life on the new colony, hardships that most people today might turn away and give up at first sight. If it weren't for them and they're strength we might not have the country we live in today.
